Making the 2010 Olympics Carbon Neutral

IMW is proud to announce our collaboration with Vancouver-based Offsetters, the official supplier of carbon offsets to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Together, we are helping facilitate environmental projects that will provide carbon credits for the 2010 Legacy Portfolio, in order to provide the first carbon neutral Olympic Games.

IMW is one of five BC-based clean technology companies able to provide quality carbon offsets from renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, specifically those aimed at the transportation sector through the implementation of compressed natural gas (CNG) as an alternative fuel. 

Since 1984, IMW has provided the global transportation sector with CNG fuelling systems that reduce carbon emissions by 22 ~ 29%, compared to gasoline and diesel emissions. Our CNG equipment is primarily used in public transportation applications, such as bus and taxi fleets, as well as bulk CNG transportation for industrial applications like power generation. To date, IMW equipment in use worldwide displaces more than 1,000,000 tonnes of carbon annually.

IMW's partnership with Offsetters ensures that carbon emissions resulting from operations associated with the 2010 Games will be offset with real, additional, and permanent emissions reductions. IMW is targetting key CNG projects in several countries that have the cumulative potential to provide approximately 50,000 tonnes of carbon offsets annually. Once finalized, these projects will be verified by recognized third party organizations and incorporated into the 2010 Legacy Portfolio.
